“Iran is hopeful of expansion of economic cooperation with other countries in the post-JCPOA era and of course forward-looking steps have been taken to this end thus far,” said Qasemi in a press conference on Monday.
Qasemi referred to an approval on Iranian officials’ assets in the US and said, “We prefer not to deal with the US domestic issues. The country is getting ready for presidential elections; so there might be many issues on table at the Congress and the Senate.”
On achievements of President Rouhani’s visit to New York, he said president’s visits to Venezuela, Cuba and New York were all successful. “The president had eight meetings in Venezuela and then in Cuba in met Raul and Fidel Castro as well.”
In New York, the President met heads of state of the three neighboring countries, secretary general of the UN, and Japan Prime Minister, while having meetings with four G7 members and two UN Security Council members.
He said Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif also met his Egyptian and Canadian counterparts.
The president held talks with British, Italian and French prime ministers on the JCPOA and the nuclear and economic issues pertinent to Europe and the G5+1.
