Nematollahi made the remark on the sidelines of ceremony marking inauguration of the photo exhibit of North Azadegan oil field, opened at the Artists House in Tehran on Sunday.
Nematollahi said development of fields west of Karoon and the South Pars gas field is the top priority of Ministry of Petroleum in the Government of Hope and Prudence.
He said the projects for development of oil fields west of Karoon have shown favorable growth in the past three years. “Ministry of Petroleum along with National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) and Petroleum Engineering and Development Company (PEDC) have concentrated all their efforts on development of fields west of Karoon.”
On North Azadegan project, Nematollahi said the field is now ready to be put into operation.
The project for development of North Azadegan joint field is now commissioned in two phases and each phase with the capacity to produce 75,000 barrels per day oil. Operation of the phases will raise North Azadegan field to 150,000 bpd. The first phase is now in operation stage and Iran daily extracts 75,000 bpd out of the joint field.
