The official said Iran is exporting products to its traditional customers especially the ones in southern and southeastern Asia but during the past 6 months, European customers have indicated more willingness to buy petrochemicals from Iran.
“We have exports to Latin American and African countries,” he said, adding all exports are done after the domestic market is supplied with the products.
Iran has launched several petrochemical projects this year which has boosted its exports.
After implementation of Iran’s nuclear deal with the P5+2 group of countries, also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), most of the restrictions in the way of exports have been removed and many international companies are making treks to Iran to hunt out investment opportunities in the country, he said.
The NPC official added that Iran exported 10 million tons of petrochemicals in the past 6 months and expects to raise it in the remaining months of the year.
