30% of South Pars Staff, Local Residents

Speaking to Shana, Yousefi said it was decided in 2005 that the percentage of the staff working in the projects must be at least 50% from the local citizens, a goal that was never realized.

However, he said, in 2013, the year Iranian President Hassan Rouhani took office, efforts were made to raise the number of locals working in the projects in a way that after 3 years, one third of the staff are natives of the region.

He further said in the recently-launched projects like Phase 12 and Phases 15 and 16, Bushehr and Marjan petrochemical projects, the local residents have taken 60 to 70% of the jobs.

For the time being, 18,000 individuals from the regional cities are employed in the zone’s projects and facilities.
